Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a specialized positive and intensive program for children and their parents, designed to enrich the quality of their relationship, reduce parenting stress and improve overall child behavior. PCIT is particularly useful for young children who present with disruptive and oppositional behaviors, such as noncompliance, low frustration tolerance, becoming easily angry or upset, physical aggression towards self or others, and tantrums among other symptoms.

PCIT is a very effective treatment backed by over 20 years of research. Live coaching during the sessions is the primary method of parent training in PCIT. The psychologist observes and coaches the parent in specific play therapy and discipline skills.
